Del City is a suburban area located in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, United States. It shares boundaries with Oklahoma City on the north, west, and south and with Midwest City on the east. Has a population of about 21800 (21798).

Del City was named after Delaphene, the eldest daughter of George Epperly. George Epperly in the year 1946 purchased the first 160 acres at the corner of southeast twenty – Ninth Street and sunny lane road, an unincorporated area of Oklahoma County. Before then only two families were residing in the area that is now known as Del City. George Epperly planned to strategically build fifty houses between the two major cities where jobs were available. This was the beginning of development in Del City. By 1948, there were 582 houses ad 75% of them were built by George Epperly. On October 9, 1948, the 200 families voted to approve incorporation despite opposition. Del City adopted a charter and council-manager form of town government in February 1959. The city expanded through the extension of Carter Park in 1954 and Midway Village in 1963.

Del City is found in the Sandstone Hills region and is famous for hills of 250 – 400 feet height. Two species of oak are characteristic of Del City – the blackjack oak and post oak.
