Lincoln Terrace neighborhood is one of Oklahoma City neighborhoods with an interesting and of course, rich history. As a matter of fact, in 1974, the neighborhood was assigned a Historic Preservation District. One of the contributing factors to this achievement is not farfetched, the residents are committed to improving and retaining the historic touch and qualities of the homes that make up the neighborhood.

Lincoln Terrace is bounded to the north by NE 23rd Street, to the south by NE 13th Street, to the east by Philips Avenue and to the west by Stiles Avenue. With a quick five minute’s drive from Oklahoma City districts, Paseo and Upland, Bricktown and Downtown, Midtown, you sure will get to Lincoln Terrace. Edmond, Choctaw, Bethany, Moore, Midwest City, and many more are popular cities in and around the neighborhood.

In 1918, a year after the Capitol was completed, the first homes in Lincoln Terrace were built. Right about the time John J. Culberton gave the land that the state Capitol was built, within the period of one year he had opened up a portion to home builders on the southeast of the Capitol that was to become Lincoln Terrace. In the 1920s about 75 homes were built, as a matter of fact, in the 1930s, most homes in Lincoln Terrace were constructed. G.A. Nichols can be said to have built many homes in the area.

The neighborhood prides itself in different architectural designs ranging from classic American Colonial to Italian and Tudor revival styles. Basically, the architectural style of Lincoln Terrace houses varied as the group of people who live there. Prominent among other styles are Georgian Revival, Mediterranean, Federal, Tudor, Prairie, and Colonial.

These have been the trend of occupants this historic neighbourhood that is in the shadow of the state capitol has attracted since the early 1990s.

Proximity to a multitude of restaurants, entertainment venues, retail shopping, schools, make life easy. Access to public transportation makes life even easier. With a few minutes of driving, places of attraction such as OKC History Centre, OKC Zoo, Myriad Botanical Gardens, OKC National Memorial Museum, Frontier City Theme Park, Museum of Osteology, and lots more are interesting places to visit from Lincoln Terrace, Oklahoma City.
